I have no idea how it got the name Hoverfly, but I"m glad a photographer friend helped with the identification. It looks like a very small bee, however the bee has two sets of wings on each side and this only has one set of wings per side.
This Great Blue Heron allowed me to slowly approach and capture it with this beautiful green reflecting in the water behind it. It was keeping a watchful eye on me and loudly announced when I was too close and flew off to another tree.
This tropical butterfly has iridescent blue wings when they hit the light just right.
